Zealous Sailing Limited will hold a High Performance Optimist Clinic for 30 sailors between January 26 – 28 2016, held out of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland, New Zealand.
The clinic is designed to fill a gap in the New Zealand Optimist calendar, preparing motivated and aspiring young optimist sailors to perform in the up and coming domestic and international season. The clinic is hoping to attract sailors from across New Zealand as well as overseas.
The coaching team includes Head Coach, Sam McKenzie, recently named as NZIODA Worlds Team coach for 2016;Tom Brewer, from Sydney, Australia, who has had a long involvement with the Australian Optimist Sailing Team; Andrew McKenzie, New Zealand’s youngest sailor in history to qualify for the Optimist worlds, and Henry Haslett 2013 NZIODA National Champion.
The coaching team offers a diverse range of experience, including IODA World and Continental championships, Youth Worlds and ISAF World Cup coaching experience. This is accompanied by sailing experience competing in Optimist, 420, 470, Laser Radial, Laser and ISAF Youth World Sailing Championships.
Zealous has been presented with a great opportunity working in association with the Royal Akarana Yacht Club. It’s great facilities; central Auckland location and professional set up allow Zealous and Royal Akarana Yacht Club to collaborate with a common vision in place.
With recent Optimist coaching experience in Singapore, Holland, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand, Zealous believes they can provide sailors will the knowledge and skills to gain a competitive advantage this season.

Gate and second beat tactics
Charter can be arranged through Sail One. This will include a boat, spars and foils.
