Baltic Development Clinic, Latvia

Zealous has landed on new shores, spending the last three days in Latvia, running the first of two Baltic Development Clinics in association with the Riga Yacht Club for Latvia and Lithuania Worlds Team Sailors as they prepare for the IODA World Championships 2016, held in Vilamoura, Portugal in late June.

The clinic was held in Salacgriva, a small town 100km up the coast from Riga. The facilities were excellent, with all sailors staying in for the three day clinic that included fitness training, theory and on the water training. Throughout the clinic the goal was to educate sailors around simple yet critical Optimist racing skills, whilst expose them to a culture of performance. Technique and starting were two specific focuses of the three day intensive clinic.

In a months time sailors will participate in Zealous’ second Development Clinic, held in Nita, Lithuania. For the time being the sailors will continue to train at home with their respective local coaches as they continue preparations for the IODA World Championships 2016.

It's been fantastic bringing together such a group of sailors and we look forward to continuing our work to develop sailing in the Baltic countries.

Over the next 10 days you will find Zealous coaches working in Auckland, Helsinki & Perth.
