Last weekend was the second and final regatta of the FIODA Optimist Qualifications, held at our home club, Brändö Seglare, East Side Helsinki. Our team included 16 racing sailors from across a variety of yacht clubs from Helsinki’s East, however all members of our Brändö Seglare, Zealous Racing Team. The team has made the most of the warm spring, training hard over the past two months with 3 training sessions per week on top of weekend clinics.
As coaches we were very proud to see our sailor, Ville, finishing 1st place in the qualification series, earning him a place in the Finland Optimist Worlds Team. We were also very proud to see 1x sailor qualify for the Europeans Team, and 10x sailors qualify for the Nordic Team. To have such young group of sailors with so much potential has made our work over the past two months very rewarding. We’re looking forward to continuing our work with Brändö Seglare over the summer.
